Edgar’s connections to this district run deep. His grandparents moved to Liberal to work at the beef packing plant in 1979. His mother—who was a child when his grandparents immigrated to the United States—grew up in Liberal and taught there for years before our family moved to Dodge City. Edgar is a proud graduate of Cimarron High School and is now a practicing attorney in Dodge City.
Edgar is an attorney who has dedicated his career to public service. After graduating from Cimarron High, he attended the University of Kansas where he completed his degree in mechanical engineering. He then received his law degree from the University of Kansas School of Law.
Edgar’s first job out of law school was to manage the Dodge City Kansas Legal Services office, which serves 26 counties in Southwest Kansas. He focused on helping low income Kansans in civil matters and providing legal assistance to the elderly. During his time at KLS, Edgar traveled thousands of miles across Southwest Kansas to meet directly with clients, learn their stories, and represent their interests. After nearly two years at KLS, Edgar joined the Kerbs Law office in Dodge City as an associate where his duties include being an assistant attorney for the governments of Cimarron, Ford County, Greensburg, and Jetmore, as well as an assistant attorney for the local school district and community college. Edgar also works as an appointed attorney in child-in-need-of-care cases and maintains general civil law and family law practices.
Edgar is a member of the Dodge City Planning Commission and a board member of the Dodge City Branch of the YMCA. He is also the proud owner of an energetic Belgian Malinois named Bella and a shy Great Pyrenees named Little Bear.
